DMZ Rats!

While pulling guard duty near the DMZ in Phu Bai in l971 we had a problem with rats climbing into our foxholes. I said enough is enough.  About 3 o'clock in the morning I put my M-l6 on rock & roll, after baiting the front part of my foxhole with M&Ms & made one big rat mince meat.  After firing the rat up the whole line of men on guard duty started firing their weapons & trip flares.

Happy to say I never got caught & we never had a problem with rats while on guard duty.
