388th Security Police Squadron

A Christmas Gift
... Seven Sons

The families of these men received a special gift that Christmas day ... the lives of their sons.

On Christmas day, 1973, USAF Security Police TSgt Michael C. Danish served with the 388th Security Police Squadron. "I was NCOIC of our Town Patrol Unit and myself, one other SP and my interpreter was making a routine stop to check the Hotel, Restaurant, and Night Club. When we pulled up smoke was every where and we were informed that the KR Club had been fire bombed. We radioed for additional units and started helping locals evacuate the building knowing that there were Military personnel as well as locals inside. Luckily everyone cleared the building and there was no loss of life or serious injury."

TSgt Danish distinguished himself by heroism involving voluntary risk of life near Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, by responding to a burning hotel and was directly responsible for saving seven lives. His actions were accomplished while placing personal safety in jeopardy by battling through smoke, heat and flames to save the lives of others.

For his actions that Christmas day, TSgt Michael C. Danish was award the USAF Airman's Medal.
