| Heaven's Veil |
Near Da Nang, 1965, we were flown out to a forced-landing site to secure
a Huey over night. We were on foot
heading into the treeline, which was too dense for an LZ. We paralleled
a tropical stream most of the morning, and suddenly...there it was:
a gushing angel-hair falls of haze, spouting a cool breeze. Today
it is called a Rainforest--in 1965 it was, pure-and-simply, a jungle.
But at that quiet pristine moment in a still dark canopied forest,
the waterfall was like heaven's mist ... and another lifetime memory
etched in. |
